Peer Support Specialist – Veteran and Family
Peer Support Specialist to work directly with Veterans and their families as they pursue housing stability and greater self-sufficiency. This position provides peer-to-peer support, community outreach, resource navigation, advocacy, and ongoing encouragement. This position may require flexible hours, including occasional nights and weekends during severe-weather shelter activations.

Peer Support Specialist – Veteran and Family Details:
Temp-to-Hire position- $
19.67 to $ 25.61 / hour Full Time work availableFirst Shift ( Monday throughFriday )
- Identify and engage unsheltered individuals through direct outreach, referrals, shelters, law enforcement, churches, and community service providers
- Build trusting, supportive relationships with Veterans and their families
- Provide encouragement and coaching related to self-care, housing stability, and independent living
- Advocate for participants and help them work toward their individual housing goals
- Assist participants with accessing community programs, services, and other resources
- Maintain participant confidentiality Attend required severe-weather shelter training and certifications
Peer Support Specialist – Veteran and Family Qualifications:
- Minimum of one year of direct client-contact or customer-service experience
- Peer Mentorship certification and crisis-intervention training, or the ability to obtain both within one year of employment
- Basic computer proficiency, including
- Microsoft Office
- Ability to maintain accurate and confidential participant documentation
- Ability to interact respectfully with individuals from diverse educational, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds
- Willingness to work occasional nights, weekends, and in varying weather conditions
- Valid Oregon driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- Previous military experience with an honorable discharge
- Applicant may be subject to a background check
- Applicant may be subject to a Motor Vehicle Report
- Pre-employment drug screen (Excluding THC) is required as a condition of employment
