Assistant to the Clerk / Deputy Clerk Details:

  • Direct Hire position
  • $45,000.00 /annually
  • Full Time work available
  • First Shift (Monday through Thursday from 07:00am to 05:00pm)
  • Monday thru Thursday  7:00am to 5:00pm
  • Assist with planning and administering federal, state, county, township, and school elections.
  • Assist with the general ledger, journal entries, accounts payable, bank reconciliations, and assist with yearly budgets.
  • Communicate with funeral directors to arrange for the opening and closing of graves. Mark grave, sell plots and assist with headstone foundations.
  • Assist with maintaining and managing township records and public documents.
  • Serve as a purchasing manager for the township and as a back-up for accounts receivable.
  • Provide excellent customer service to the township residents at the township service window.
  • Apply for and obtain certification as a Notary Public.

Assistant to the Clerk / Deputy Clerk Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree in Finance/Accounting/Business is preferred but not a requirement.
  • Must have five or more years of accounting/financial experience.
  • Must have experience with bookkeeping and general ledgers.
  • Three or more years of administrative or executive experience.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office - Work, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Etc.
  • Ability to multitask and work with interruptions throughout the day.
  • Ability to create a friendly work environment and maintain a good working relationship with elected officials.

Preferred

  • Basic knowledge of Michigan election processes is a plus.
  • Experience with the BS&A software systems.
  • Experience working in a municipality.
