R&D Aquatics Animal Care Technician Details:
Temporary position- $
24.00 to $ 30.00 / hour Part Time work availableVarious shifts available ( Monday throughFriday )
The R&D Aquatics Animal Care Technician is responsible for performing animal care services for the Global Pet Care R&D Department directly supporting the Aquatics team. This individual will conduct the daily care, feeding, and habitat maintenance of freshwater fish, saltwater fish, pond fish, and reptiles in the R&D Animal Laboratory and outdoor pond.
Roles and Responsibilities include:
- Conduct tests as directed, recording results and writing basic reports.
- Keep proper records of fish health, tank cleanings and filter changes.
- Keep the Animal Laboratory and outdoor pond area in a clean and safe condition.
- Maintain inventory of required food, supplies and equipment.
- Actively participate in the continuous improvement of all testing protocols and laboratory equipment calibrations
- Maintain a detailed laboratory notebook for all projects.
- Assist in the maintenance and entries of R&D data bases.
R&D Aquatics Animal Care Technician Qualifications:
- Working toward a bachelor’s degree preferably in Fish & Wildlife Conservation, Animal Science, Biology, Chemistry, or Food Sciences
- 0-2 years of experience working in a laboratory environment
- Experience with maintaining aquatics livestock including fresh water and marine fish and reptiles preferred.
- Knowledge of laboratory operations, equipment, and safety requirements
- High level of organizational, basic critical thinking, analytical, and multi-tasking skills
- Good communication skills, both written and oral
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- PC Skills: Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Adobe, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Teams, ZOOM, etc.
