CMM Operator Details:

  • Direct Hire position
  • $21.00 to $27.91 /hour
  • Full Time work available
  • Weekend work required
  • Third Shift (Monday through Friday from 10:00pm to 06:00am)

A CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) Operator inspects precision-manufactured parts to ensure they meet blueprint specifications, utilizing specialized software (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso) and probes. They work in manufacturing environments, performing first-article inspections and documenting findings. Common skills include reading blueprints, CAD familiarity, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).

CMM Operator Qualifications:

  • 3+ years experience as a CMM programmer in an automotive manufacturing environment
  • Minimum of an Associate's degree or equivalent in Engineering or Quality from a college/university or technical school. B.S preferred.
  • Must have outstanding analytical skills.
  • Must be proficient in written and verbal communication.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in various problem-solving methods, including: 8D, 5-WHY, 5P, etc.
  • Proven ability to use various precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, calipers, height gage, gage blocks gage pins, etc.
  • Proficient in writing, editing and running CMM programs for complex parts and components.
  • Must be able to program from electronic drawing files or "reverse engineer" a program from a part alone.
  • Proficient in the ability to measure parts on a fixed gage or in the free-state
  • Proficient in reading mechanical drawings
  • Thorough and in-depth working knowledge and hands-on experience with GD&T.
  • Applicant may be subject to a background check
