Screw Machine Operator
We are seeking a skilled Screw Machine Operator for 1st shift in the Jackson, MI area. The ideal candidate will have experience operating multi spindle, lathe type screw machines, including Acme Gridley machines, equipped with automatic indexing and feeding mechanisms.

Screw Machine Operator Details:
Temp-to-Hire position- $
16.00 to $ 24.00 / hour Full Time work availableFirst Shift ( Monday throughFriday )
- Schedule: 1st shift — Mon–Thu 6:00am–4:30pm, Fri 6:00am–2:30pm.
- Read blueprints/job orders for dimensions, tolerances, part counts, and tooling specs.
- Load bar stock and install collets, bushings, and stock pusher.
- Set and adjust cams, gears, stops, and tooling for proper machine operation.
- Position and secure tools in holders; set cutting speeds and feeds.
- Cycle machine, make adjustments for timing, clearances, and chip removal.
- Start machine and inspect first?run parts for accuracy.
- Replace worn tools as needed.
- Use bench grinder to sharpen tools.
Screw Machine Operator Qualifications:
- Experienced in tool sharpening, setting proper speeds and feeds, performing routine machine maintenance, and reading/understanding blueprints.
- Able to lift 40–50lbs as required.
- Skilled in operating Acme?Gridley screw machines.
Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure.
- Perform the four operations, with like common and decimal fractions.
- Apply principles of shop, math to metalworking industry.
