Metal Prep Supervisor Details:

  • Direct Hire position
  • $41,600.00 to $52,000.00 /annually
  • First Shift (Monday through Friday from 06:00am to 02:30pm)

As a Prep Shop Supervisor, you oversee the setup and operations of the equipment in the prep department and develop processes to increase efficiency and ensure that finished products meet all specifications. You may also be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing machinery, such as milling machines or metal lathes.

  • Supervise, coordinate, and schedule the activities of workers engaged in the following duties: operating single or multi-function metal cutting machinery and equipment.
  • Coordinate and direct workers who set up and operate the machines.
  • Monitor the production process and the flow of materials, and they make sure that the products meet the requirements.
  • Determine work priorities and delegate work to others.
  • Perform job set-up verifications, random inspections of in process work to verify accuracy of parts.

Metal Prep Supervisor Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Knowledge of the Metal Racking industry is an asset.
  • Strong supervisory, people management, motivational and training skills
  • Knowledge of appropriate cutting data for machining a variety of materials including stainless steel, carbon steel, high alloy steel, aluminum.
  • Strong knowledge of the equipment within a prep department.
  • Ideally having experience of both turning and milling on manual machines and demonstrate hands on capability.
  • Ability to provide solutions to decrease cycle times and overcome day to day machining issues.
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to change.
  • Ability to operate forklift and overhead cranes.
  • Ability to understand interpret engineering drawings.
