Plans Examiner Details:

• Direct Hire position
• $70,000.00 to $93,000.00 /annually
• First Shift (Monday through Friday)

• Exercises supervision over professional, technical and clerical staff as required by the Chief Building Inspector.
• Review plans, specifications and calculations of new construction, additions and alterations to residential buildings and commercial projects to determine compliance with the provisions of building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing and other applicable codes, ordinances and regulations.
• Inspect residential and commercial buildings during various stages of construction and remodeling to ensure compliance with applicable codes, ordinances and regulations as required.
• Provide counter support to the public; issue building permits and accept applications for permits; confer with architects, contractors, builders and the general public in the office; explain and interpret requirements and restrictions.
• Compute area of buildings; determine valuation and permit fees.
• Maintain files and prepare reports regarding plan check activities and findings.
• Process contractors’ registration; collect payments; enter into data base; file registrations.
• Confer with architects, contractors, builders and the general public in the field and office; explain and interpret requirements and restrictions.
• Attend and participate in professional group meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of plans review.
• Provide staff assistance to the Chief Building Inspector; prepare staff reports and other necessary correspondence.
• Maintain accurate and complete files, report, schedules, recommendations and other administrative records.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
