Building Inspector Details:
Direct Hire position- $
52.00 / hour First Shift ( Monday throughFriday from 08:00am to05:00pm )
- Perform field inspections of building construction, alterations, repairs, and demolitions to verify compliance with applicable building, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, energy, and accessibility codes.
- Review approved plans, permits, and specifications prior to conducting inspections.
- Document inspection results, prepare clear and detailed reports, and issue notices of violation when necessary.
- Respond to inquiries from contractors, developers, architects, and property owners regarding code requirements and inspection procedures.
- Coordinate with municipal staff and attend project meetings as needed.
- Maintain accurate daily records of inspections and ensure timely entry of reports into the city’s permit tracking system.
- Stay current with changes to state and local building codes and construction practices.
Building Inspector Qualifications:
- Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible experience in construction, building inspection, or code enforcement.
- Current ICC certification(s) as Residential and/or Commercial Building Inspector required; multiple certifications strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, construction methods, and applicable codes (IBC, IRC, IMC, IPC, NEC, etc.).
